Hillcrest Energy Technologies Ltd (CSE:HEAT, OTCQB:HLRTF) has launched a new testing and demonstration program for its latest Zero Voltage Switching (ZVS) technology application, focusing on power factor correction (PFC).
Don Currie, CEO of Hillcrest Energy Technologies, highlighted the increasing interest in their ZVS technology.
"Over the past few months, several clients have inquired about our industry-leading ZVS technology for improving power factor correction. We are currently in discussions with five customers who have requested demonstrations.
“This new prototype allows us to showcase the superior efficiency and cost-saving potential of our ZVS technology in this new application."
Power factor correction measures how effectively electrical power is converted into useful work, with a higher power factor indicating more efficient power usage. Improving power factor can reduce energy costs and enhance the working capacity of electrical systems.
Hillcrest's ZVS technology, when applied to PFC, is expected to boost the operating capacity, performance, and lifespan of grid-connected electrical equipment while also reducing the size of filtering components, leading to significant operating and capital cost savings. For grid operators, this technology offers better power quality and improved grid stability.
Hillcrest's ZVS technology has already demonstrated its next-generation capabilities in electric vehicle traction inverters. These capabilities are now being adapted for PFC applications, promising several key benefits: efficiency exceeding 99%, surpassing conventional power conversion solutions; significant reduction in electromagnetic interference (EMI), allowing for fewer and smaller protective components; enhanced power quality, leading to better performance and reliability of power systems and improved grid stability; and substantial cost savings through the reduction in the size of filters and other system components.
"Power factor correction is needed in nearly everything connected to the electric grid, including renewable energy generation and storage, EV onboard chargers and charging stations, data centers, and various industrial applications," Currie added.
"We aim to accelerate our go-to-market strategy by leveraging the ease of integrating our ZVS technology into these existing electrical systems."
