Soma Gold resumes operations at El Bagre mine

Soma Gold Corp. (TSX-V:SOMA, OTCQX:SMAGF) said the blockade that had disrupted operations at the El Bagre mine in Colombia has been lifted after one week.

Regular production is expected to ramp up accordingly.

The Canadian company said it had resolved issues surrounding the paving of a local road in Zaragoza, Colombia, in collaboration with the Mayor, the Municipality of Zaragoza, and the local community.

The company's management praised the cooperative efforts that addressed the community's concerns and enabled employees to resume their duties.

"While this brief halt in operations is anticipated to result in a loss of approximately 700 ounces of gold equivalent production, we are optimistic that we can recover this shortfall over the remainder of the year,” Geoff Hampson, CEO of Soma Gold said in a statement.

“Consequently, we are maintaining our production guidance for fiscal year 2024."
