Solis Minerals Ltd (ASX:SLM, TSX-V:SLMN, OTCQB:SLMFF) executive director Matthew Boyes sits down with Proactive’s Jonathan Jackson to discuss a first-pass geochemical program at the Cinto Project in Peru, targeting high-grade copper.
The company secured an access deal with the Carumbraya community, facilitating drill exploration. The next phase involves systematic mapping and sampling of copper mineralisation.
Surface grab samples from Cinto revealed copper content up to 7.14% with mineralisation spread over a 200-metre by 100-metre area in historical workings. The site features a 100-metre-wide exposed area with significant copper oxide mineralisation.
The project is located near the regional Incapuquio fault system, close to the massive Toquepala porphyry system. The geochemical and base metal profiles of Cinto samples resemble the Toquepala deposit, suggesting similar porphyry-style mineralisation.
Solis is now using a drone magnetometer and conducting further geological mapping to guide drill permitting. Boyes discussed the geochemical findings, noting the similarity to Toquepala's mineralisation and the potential proximity to a large porphyry system.
The company plans to start geophysical programs and detailed mapping, applying for drill permits soon. Boyes highlighted the underexplored nature of their Peruvian assets and mentioned ongoing drill target preparations at Ilo Este and Chancho al Palo.
