Spectral AI Inc (NASDAQ:MDAI) said it will be assisted by a leading medical device company and burn wound therapy company in its application and potential deployment of its DeepView System for burn indication in Australia.
Under a collaboration agreement signed between the two companies, Melbourne-based PolyNovo Ltd will help with Spectral AI's near-term goal of deploying up to two of the systems at the Royal Adelaide Hospital (pictured) and The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne.
This aims to lay the groundwork for Spectral to eventually roll out DeepView based on local clinician evaluations and experiences in those two hospitals.
As part of the memorandum of understanding, PolyNovo will initially support Spectral AI's application to the Australian Special Access Scheme (SAS), which was introduced by Australia's Therapeutics Goods Administration in recognition that there are circumstances where patients need access to certain medicines, medical devices, or biologics that are not already included in the Australian Register of Goods.
DeepView is a non-invasive predictive device that offers clinicians an immediate and objective assessment of a burn wound’s healing potential prior to treatment or other medical intervention, using an image processing algorithm trained and tested against a huge proprietary database of clinically validated data points.
PolyNovo's technology is used to reconstruct complex wounds, including deep dermal and full‐thickness burns.
