Torr Metals (TSX-V:TMET) announced that the Government of Ontario has granted a three-year exploration permit for drilling at its Filion gold project.
The Canadian junior resource company acquired the project in October 2023 and quickly launched a soil exploration program at the Filion fault zone.
Highlights from that program include the delineation of six undrilled gold soil anomalies, spanning a 2.5-kilometer-wide corridor, with the largest anomaly measuring 1,200 meters in strike length.
The anomalies align with historical VLF-EM conductors and significant shear structures, suggesting a potential 2.5-kilometer strike length of undrilled gold mineralization.
None of these anomalies have been historically drilled, offering significant exploration upside for Torr Metals (TSX-V:TMET).
Malcolm Dorsey, CEO of Torr Metals (TSX-V:TMET), called the permit a “tremendous opportunity” for Torr to build on its work from last year.
“We are very excited to further advance our exploration, especially after identifying extensive kilometer-scale gold soil anomalies that have yet to be drill tested along-trend of historical high-grade rock and channel samples,” Dorsey said in a statement.
The Filion Fault shares geological similarities with other major gold deposits in northern Ontario’s greenstone belts, such as Hemlo, Greenstone, Casa Berardi, and Detour Lake. These deposits are typically located within major east-west trending fault zones, similar to the Filion Fault, enhancing the project's potential for a significant gold discovery.
Torr is in the process of finalizing exploration plans.
