Ryanair passenger numbers soar to new June record

Ryanair Holdings PLC (LSE:RYA), Europe’s largest budget airline, carried 19.3 million passengers in June, marking a new monthly record.

It was up 11% from the 17.7 million passengers in June 2023, with the fleet’s load factor unchanged at 95%.

This comes despite widespread flight delays and cancellations in the month for which Ryanair has gladly pointed the finger at European air traffic controllers (ATCs).

“ATC services in Europe this summer are at their worst levels ever,” Ryanair’s chief operations officer Neal McMahon said last week.

He added: “Over the last 3 years, Europe’s ATC fees have risen by record levels, but staffing and service levels have continued to decline.

“We call on EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to take action to urgently reform Europe’s shambolic ATC services.”
