Sidus Space Inc (NASDAQ:SIDU) announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with multi-discipline services firm NamaSys to establish a Saudi Arabia-headquartered joint venture (JV) to develop a state-of-the-art 3D printing satellite manufacturing facility.
The space and data-as-a-service firm said the MOU outlines the parties’ intent to fulfill the needs and requirements of government and private clients across the Middle East and North Africa region while also fostering science and technology development.
The initial scope of the collaboration is exploring opportunities for sustained access to space for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries through establishing satellite manufacturing and space-based data collection, it added.
“This important and accretive relationship is the cornerstone for launching our satellite operations and on-orbit services into the GCC region,” Sidus CEO Carol Craig said in a statement.
“The immediate benefits of our technology and services to the Gulf states are a game changer for both the Middle East and Sidus Space.”
NamaSys CEO Manhal AlQaisi added: “The recent advances in 3D printing, specifically in manufacturing lightweight complex designs for the space industry, will definitely serve as the catalyst in bringing the GCC region closer to par with the leaders in this industry.
“Under the guidance and support of a technical JV partner such as Sidus Space, we are confident that we made the right choice.”
