Chesapeake Financial Shares Inc. (OTCQX:CPKF)’s Chesapeake Bank has announced the retirement of Executive Vice President John O’Shaughnessy.
The Virginia-based bank said O’Shaughnessy joined the company in 1997 and has since served in various roles including Senior Credit Officer, where he was responsible for the commercial/consumer and residential lending of the bank, and as Regional Executive for the Northern Neck market.
Following his retirement, he will continue to serve as a member of the bank’s Northern Neck Advisory Board.
Chesapeake Bank CEO Jeff Szyperski said O’Shaughnessy had been “an indispensable leader” in the growth of Chesapeake Financial Shares and Chesapeake Bank.
“In his 27 years with us, the bank has profitably grown over 900% and John has been instrumental in that,” Szyperski said.
“He has great banking and leadership skills which, combined with knowing almost everyone in the community, has allowed him to be so successful. We are glad he will continue to be on our Advisory Board.”
Per the company’s succession plan, taking over O’Shaughnessy's regional executive position will be VP Commercial Loan Officer Hurst Kelley.
Hurst began his career in banking in 2009 as a Branch Manager and transitioned to commercial lending in 2013, with lending experience across equipment financing, debt consolidation, working capital, lines of credit, residential mortgages, commercial construction/renovation, and commercial real estate lending for owner-occupied and income producing/investment properties.
