Prudential confirms widely trailed $2bn buyback

As widely trailed over the weekend, Prudential PLC (LSE:PRU) has announced a $2 billion share-repurchase programme, beginning with a $700 million tranche.

The life and health insurer, based in London and Hong Kong, aims to complete the buyback by mid-2026.

CEO Anil Wadhwani said: "Progress towards our financial objectives will increase the potential for further cash returns to shareholders."

He also confirmed the company's dividend will grow between 7% and 9% this year.

Prudential has partnered with Goldman Sachs International, which will acquire the first $700 million block of stock.
