Strickland Metals new assays support emerging large-scale gold project at Horse Well

New assay results from Strickland Metals Ltd (ASX:STK) show an emerging large-scale gold project at the Horse Well gold camp within the Yandal Gold Project in Western Australia, with “excellent” drilling results from the Palomino, Bronco and Warmblood prospects.

“The recent and current results across the three prospects – Palomino, Warmblood and Bronco – show that Horse Well is continuing to shape up as a very significant gold project,” Strickland chairman Anthony McClure said.

“We are constantly identifying new gold mineralisation, locating extensions to known mineralisation and generating new promising targets across a large prospect area.

“Drilling will continue to proceed at pace, with an additional diamond rig to be added shortly to the Yandal project.

“This will facilitate a number of key stratigraphic holes across Horse Well, as well as testing the large-scale Great Western target. It is expected this additional rig will fast track a number of other key priorities for exploration.”

The results

Palomino

At Palomino, further strong results include:

  • 20.3 metres grading 1.9 g/t gold from 103.6 metres, including 7 metres at 4.7 g/t in HWDD009; and
  • 21 metres at 1.2 g/t from 108 metres, including 3 metres at 2.8 g/t in HWRC257.

Notably, the result in HWRC257 is 100 metres north of the previously announced result in HWRC254 of 9 metres grading 2.4 g/t gold from 22 metres and 21 metres at 1 g/t from 76 metres.

This gives Palomino a growing and substantial footprint which is now more than 600 metres in strike, remaining open to the north as well as down-plunge. Additional diamond assays from Palomino are expected in early July.

Warmblood

Additionally, the first assays from the Warmblood prospect have been received, identifying a third high-grade lode not previously intersected of 6 metres grading 4 g/t gold from 37 metres and 7 metres at 1.1 g/t from 62 metres (in HWRC275).

The results from this initial phase of drilling have confirmed the grade continuity within the 1-kilometre Warmblood mineralised footprint and now allows Strickland to drill test and ultimately map out these three high-grade primary mineralised domains down-plunge and along strike.

Further drilling is planned to test the extents of this new lode at and test the high-grade plunge extents from all primary lodes across Warmblood.

Bronco

The first diamond holes from initial diamond drilling at Bronco have also been received. Peak results include:

  • 15.8 metres at 1.5 g/t gold from 84 metres in HWDD016;
  • 12 metres at 1.4 g/t from 52 metres and 9.2 metres at 1.7 g/t from 74 metres in HWDD014; and
  • 11 metres at 1.2 g/t from 108 metres in HWDD018.

The drilling was designed to obtain key structural information relating to the orientation of the primary mineralisation below the southernmost portion of the extensive >1g/t oxide gold domain.

Strickland says it is now clear that the primary controls on mineralisation strikes to the northwest and is contained within two distinct northwest plunging lodes.

In line with this new interpretation, the company has completed a 3D IP survey across Bronco, producing a significant chargeability anomaly immediately to the northwest and along trend from the current drilling.

This has emerged as a highly attractive exploration target, as the anomaly is positioned within a flexure in the magnetic dataset, proximal to a northeast cross-cutting structure and coincident with a bottom-of-hole aircore intercept of 5 metres at 0.6 g/t gold from 55 metres (HWAC1423).

The company is planning a number of holes to test the IP anomaly.
