Proactive Mining Highlights: Andrada, KEFI Gold, MetalNRG...

Anglo Asian Mining PLC (AIM:AAZ, OTC:AGXKF) said the problems stemming from its tailings dam expansion plans at the Gedabek mine in Azerbaijan were ‘largely behind it’ in a statement ahead of its AGM.

The miner had to suspend production and bring in an independent consultant to audit its tailings operations following social unrest over the plans but now expects full agitation and flotation processing at the mine to resume shortly.

Sovereign Metals Ltd (ASX:SVM, OTC:SVMLF, AIM:SVML) has welcomed the start of upgrades to the 399-kilometre section of railway that traverses its Kasiya Rutile-Graphite tenements from Mchinji at the Malawi-Zambia border to Nkaya Junction.

The track connects the project to the Nacala Logistics Corridor and to Nacala port and is part of the Malawi Government’s Rail Strategy and Growth Plan, aimed at enhancing the country’s rail infrastructure as part of a broader initiative to promote socio-economic development.

Shares in Arc Minerals Limited (AIM:ARCM), the mining exploration group targeting tier-1 copper deposits, rose 6% after it moved to clarify the status of its mining applications in Zambia.

It confirmed the rejection of two applications submitted by Handa Resources Limited and Zaco Investments would be appealed. Additionally, a large-scale exploration licence from Zaco was deferred pending further information.

Rainbow Rare Earths Ltd (LSE:RBW, OTC:RBWRF) said a seventy-day pilot test for the Phalaborwa development project in South Africa had confirmed concentrate recoveries at 66%.

A final separation stage pilot plant will further sort the concentrate into rare earth oxides, with this work ongoing in Florida.
