Redx Pharma PLC (AIM:REDX) said it will present phase II data on its drug zamaporvint (RXC004) at the European Society for Medical Oncology Gastrointestinal Cancers Congress (ESMO GI) from June 26-29 in Munich.
Zamaporvint is a porcupine inhibitor, a type of drug designed to target the Wnt-ligand pathway, and is being developed to tackle difficult-to-treat gastrointestinal cancers.
The phase II data includes results from trials where zamaporvint was used alone (monotherapy) and in combination with an anti-PD-1 therapy, which helps the immune system detect and fight cancer cells.
The trials involved patients with specific types of cancers: microsatellite stable metastatic colorectal cancer (MSS mCRC), biliary tract cancer, and pancreatic cancer.
The results will be shown in two posters: one for the PORCUPINE study, which focused on patients with MSS mCRC, and another for the PORCUPINE2 study, which included patients with biliary tract and pancreatic cancers.
These studies suggest that combining zamaporvint with an anti-PD-1 agent could improve treatment outcomes for patients with these types of cancers compared to standard treatments alone.
