Games Workshop profits rampage higher in second half

Shares in warhammer tabletop games maker Games Workshop Group PLC (LSE:GAW) stomped almost 8% higher after it posted annual profits growth of at least 17%, following an acceleration in the second half of the fiscal year.

The maker of miniature figurines for tabletop battle games said core revenues came at above £490 million for the 53 weeks to 2 June, up 10% from last time.

Profit before tax is estimated to be "not less than £200 million", compared to £171 million the year before. In the first half of the year PBT grew 14% to £95.2 million.

Included in the profit estimate is the allowance for £18 million of staff profit-share scheme, which is paid in cash on an equal basis to each employee, while £138 million of dividends were shelled out and declared in the year, with 415p per share paid out.

The FTSE 250-listed group said it plans to publish full results at the end of next month.

Shares in the company rose 7.8% to 10,220p.
