Piedmont Lithium welcomes high-grade results at North American Lithium joint venture

Piedmont Lithium (ASX:PLL, OTC:PLLTL) Ltd and its partner Sayona Mining Ltd (ASX:SYA) have fielded further high-grade drilling results from the North American Lithium (NAL) operation in Québec, Canada, which they own in a 25%-85% split.

The latest results encompass 36 new drill holes totalling 8,803 metres and point to significant lithium mineralisation.

Highlights

Key findings from the North-West Extension include:

  • 21 metres at 1.55% lithium oxide (Li2O) from 352.9 metres;
  • 25.5 metres at 1.64% from 308.2 metres;
  • 25.35 metres at 1.76% from 269.25 metres; and
  • 18.4 metres at 1.54% from 356.05 metres.

In the Resources Area, results such as the following indicate potential for resource upgrades or conversions:

  • 26.05 metres at 1.66% Li2O from 324.25 metres; and
  • 19.90 metres at 1.52% from 52.20 metres.

All assay results from the 2023 drilling campaign have now been completed, validated and released, covering 24 holes and 4,901 metres.

Additionally, high-grade results are in from this year’s first drill holes, including 12 drill holes and wedges covering 3,903 metres.

A further drilling program of approximately 30,000 metres is planned for NAL throughout 2024.

“We are delighted to have another strong set of drilling results from North American Lithium which continue to highlight the superb quality of this mine,” said Sayona interim CEO James Brown.

“The results reported today have shown that mineralisation continues outside of the existing MRE pit shells so the next key step will be to complete a recalculation of the MRE to include recent drilling.

More drilling to come

“Additionally, we will also complete a further 30,000 metres of drilling throughout 2024 to better understand the full potential of the NAL mineralisation.”

NAL consists of 42 mineral titles – 41 claims and one mining lease – spanning 1,493 hectares near La Corne township in Québec's Abitibi-Temiscamingue region.

This operation, which has a lithium mine and concentrator, recommenced production of spodumene concentrate in March 2023.

The project is only 60 kilometres north of Val d'Or, a major mining service centre, with access to road and rail infrastructure and skilled labour.
