Guild Esports bolsters World Cup slate as “Rainpro” qualifies for Street Fighter

Guild Esports PLC (LSE:GILD, OTCQB:GULDF) announced that its professional Street Fighter player, Chiu "Rainpro" Chin-ya, has qualified for the Esports World Cup (EWC).

Rainpro earned his place by finishing 7th in the DreamHack tournament in Jönköping, Sweden, on 14 June.

At the EWC, Rainpro will compete for a share of the $1 million Street Fighter prize pool.

Guild Esports will receive 35% of any winnings he secures.

It marks a significant milestone for the company, as it will now be represented in three events at the EWC: Apex Legends, FIFA, and Street Fighter.

All three events contribute towards the Esports World Cup Club Championship, which features a total prize pool of $20 million.

"We're thrilled that Rainpro has secured his place at the EWC in what promises to be the most exciting esports tournament in history,” chief executive Jasmine Skee said in a statement.

“After an outstanding performance, we know he will do us proud in Riyadh and gain us vital EWC Club Championship points.”
