Hertz Energy CEO on new Nunavut acquisition and dual lithium-uranium focus

Hertz Energy (CSE:HZ, OTCQB:HZLIF) has expanded its mineral portfolio with the acquisition of new mineral claims in Nunavut.

CEO Kal Malhi sat down with Proactive to discuss the strategic implications of this acquisition and the company's dual focus on lithium and uranium.

Proactive: The company has announced a new acquisition related to a property. What's intriguing is its connection to Hertz Energy (CSE:HZ, OTCQB:HZLIF). Currently, your primary focus is on lithium, yet this project pertains to uranium. Could you provide an overview of the company and elaborate on the significance of lithium in your operations?

Kal Malhi: We are a lithium-focused company under Hertz Energy. We have robust projects in James Bay, including our AC/DC project adjacent to Rio Tinto. Recently, we acquired the district-scale Snake project, strategically positioned amidst Brunswick Explorations’ active exploration areas. We've also secured $1.5 million in financing specifically for our lithium initiatives in James Bay, where this year marks the first full season of on-the-ground exploration after last year's shutdown due to forest fires.

Our focus remains steadfast on advancing our lithium projects through intensive exploration efforts before we delve into uranium.

The property you recently acquired is situated in Nunavut. Could you elaborate on this project, highlighting what attracted you to it and why you believe it will be a valuable addition to the company?

As a critical minerals company, when uranium prices surged, we identified an opportunity to expand into uranium projects. One such acquisition is the Cominco project in Nunavut, initially explored in the mid-1970s by Cominco, yielding impressive results. While the core claims were owned by a mining engineer known for lithium exploration, we recently acquired these critical claims. They are pivotal for our Cominco uranium project, encapsulating significant drill data from 1976.

How do you approach evaluating and managing this project, considering your ongoing focus on lithium while also exploring the unique opportunities presented by uranium?

In addition to our Cominco project, we've also acquired two uranium exploration applications in Namibia. We've engaged geologists and taskers to secure open ground for these permits. This move strengthens our uranium portfolio, though it's important to note there are no guarantees. Our goal is to conduct initial exploration on these uranium assets and potentially spin them off into a separate entity. Shareholders of Hertz Energy would retain ownership of the lithium portfolio, while also possibly gaining shares in the new Hertz uranium venture.

It's essential to emphasize that the spin-off of our uranium assets is still in the conceptual stage. We're committed to building our uranium portfolio while maintaining a strong focus on advancing our lithium projects.
