As the election campaign rattles on, with all leading parties having released their manifestos now, attention next week will turn to the Bank of England and its interest rate decision.
Markets are on track for their worst losing streak since the start of the pandemic but economists are hopeful it can be reversed by dovish sentiment at the Monetary Policy Committee’s meeting next Thursday.
While rates are expected to be maintained at the meeting, clues from the policymakers plus May’s inflation print on Wednesday could provide some insight into whether a summer rate cut is likely.
With the Euro’s kicking off over the weekend, investors of Premier Inn owner Whitbread and pub group Young’s will be keeping their eyes out for any indication of a football-driven boom.
However, if Fuller’s boss Simon Emeny is right, it might be Taylor Swift’s UK leg of her world tour that drives a boom this summer.
“You cannot underestimate the effect that eight fully booked nights at Wembley will bring, Taylor Swift will be more reliable than the England team,” he said.
Elsewhere, backers of the LSE will hope Ashtead has no more thoughts regarding a move to the US after it highlighted concerns over trading at a “significant” valuation gap to that of Stateside peers
