Guild Esports PLC (LSE:GILD, OTCQB:GULDF) has announced its return to the Apex Legends esports scene, signing a new team.
The team, 'Serenity,' features professional players Benjamin "Jesko" Spaseski, Tyson "Buegy" Crossman, and Tom "Legacy" Canty, along with coach Winnie "tiltedwinnie" Long.
Serenity has competed since November 2023, and will now represent Guild Esports in various tournaments.
It has already qualified for the Esports World Cup (EWC), where the team will compete for a share of the $2 million prize pool.
The team will also participate in other major international tournaments, such as the Apex Legends Global Series, which includes stages like online qualifiers, playoffs, and championships.
Qualification also secures Guild Esports' entry into the prestigious Club Championship, a multi-game competition with a $20 million prize pool.
Besides Apex Legends, Guild Esports has also qualified for the EWC in simulator racer ESL R1.
"The Esports World Cup promises to be the biggest and most exciting esports event in history,” Guild chief executive Jasmine Skee said in a statement.
“We're delighted to have joined the Club Championship and to be competing at the tournament for a share of that $20m prize pool. Apex Legends is the perfect game to secure our entry into the Club Championship.”
Skee added: “Our talent scouts have long been on the lookout for the perfect team to bring us back to the esport.
“They've done a stellar job in finding Legacy, Buegy and Jesko, who are some of the most exciting young players on the Apex Legends scene.
“We'll be cheering them on as they take the Esports World Cup by storm - we can't wait to see what they can do."
