Great Boulder Resources discovers thick high-grade gold vein that extends Mulga Bill deposit

Great Boulder Resources Ltd (ASX:GBR) has discovered a new shallow, thick high-grade vein that extends the Mulga Bill deposit at the Side Well Gold Project by at least 150 metres north of the deposit’s 568,000-ounce resource.

Reverse circulation (RC) drilling at the northern end of Mulga Bill has returned up to 32 metres at 8.38 g/t gold from 104 metres, including 18 metres at 13.76 g/t from 104 metres.

Other strong results are:

  • 16 metres at 2.12 g/t gold from 108 metres, including 4 metres at 5.68 g/t from 108 metres; and
  • 26 metres at 3.31 g/t from 88 metres, including 8 metres at 10.02 g/t from 88 metres.

Discovery of the new vein at Mulga Bill extends into Mulga Bill North where drilling has now defined gold mineralisation over 1.5 kilometres of strike.

“Exciting development”

Great Boulder’s managing director Andrew Paterson said: “This is an extremely exciting development at Mulga Bill, with the discovery of a thick high-grade vein immediately north of the current Mulga Bill resource.

“Our drilling has defined it over 150 metres of strike, with indications that it could extend 350 metres or more.

“It appears to have the same orientation as high-grade veins previously discovered within the resource area and has the potential to be a significant extension to the Mulga Bill deposit.

“This new discovery connects the Mulga Bill and Mulga Bill North prospects. Mulga Bill North is 1,500 metres long and still relatively poorly drilled. It’s a big gold system and we definitely haven’t defined the full extent of it yet.

"The northern end of Mulga Bill is the shallowest part of the mineral resource, so any additional gold ounces defined in that area have good potential to enhance the economics of the project.”

Similar to other zones

The new high-grade zone is interpreted to have similar geometry and dimensions to other high-grade zones within the 568,000-ounce Mulga Bill mineral resource to the south.

Additional drilling has since been completed in this area to confirm the orientation of the new high-grade mineralisation, with results expected in three to four weeks.

Aircore drilling

There were also 26 aircore holes drilled north of the dyke and at Mulga Bill North to continue defining gold mineralisation in this area.

Initial results from the first 12 holes show significant gold enrichment coinciding with the continuation of the new high-grade vein, with bottom-of-hole gold anomalism extending more than 350 metres north of Mulga Bill providing an exciting target for deeper RC drilling.

This indicates the strike potential of the new vein may be more than 350 metres, a significant extension to the 1,100-metre-long Mulga Bill resource.

Maiden Polelle drilling

Assays remain pending for the last 14 holes drilled at Mulga Bill North.

The aircore rig has now moved south to the Polelle project, which is about 14 kilometres south of Meekatharra, with 45 holes planned as an initial test of some of the geochemical targets in the area.

Great Boulder is also finalising plans for additional heritage surveys over Side Well South and Polelle in late July.
