Apple partners with OpenAI to integrate ChatGPT into Siri

At its WWDC 2024 keynote on Monday, Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL, ETR:APC) announced a major partnership with OpenAI to integrate ChatGPT into Siri.

The move is part of Apple's broader strategy to enhance its AI capabilities and compete with other leading tech companies.

With the upcoming release of iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia, users will have free access to ChatGPT via Siri without needing an account.

ChatGPT will also be embedded into system-wide writing tools, improving functionality across Apple devices, according to Sam Altman, who was present at the WWDC on Monday.

very happy to be partnering with apple to integrate chatgpt into their devices later this year!

think you will really like it.

Apple had been in discussions with both Google and OpenAI to incorporate AI technology into its operating systems. OpenAI secured the deal, in part due to the launch of its GPT-4o voice assistant, noted for its advanced capabilities and voice resemblance to Scarlett Johansson in the movie "Her."

OpenAI's technology will be used to power AI writing summaries and provide enhanced context and domain expertise across Apple devices.

The OpenAI partnership is key for broader AI integration, according to Wedbush analyst Dan Ives.

“Apple is taking the right path to implement AI across its ecosystem while laying out the foundation for the company’s multi-year AI strategy across the strongest installed base of 2.2 billion iOS devices over the coming years with the Street giving no credit for AAPL’s AI monetization.”
