GoviEx Uranium Inc (TSX-V:GXU, OTCQX:GVXXF) said it had received a radiological certificate from the Nigerien government for its Madaouela project in the country.
The regulatory approval is a crucial step preceding the commencement of mining operations and signifies the completion of radiological baseline studies, GoviEx said in a statement.
Essentially, the certificate confirms that Madaouela has undergone comprehensive radiological baseline studies and complies with safety and environmental standards set by the government.
It serves as official authorization for the commencement of mining activities, indicating that the project has been assessed for potential radiological risks and deemed safe to proceed.
GoviEx believes that Madaouela holds promising prospects for the Nigerien economy, with an initial capital expenditure estimated at US$343 million. Moreover, it is anticipated to create substantial employment opportunities, potentially generating up to 800 skilled and semi-skilled jobs over its projected 20-year mine life.
The Nigerien government holds a 20% stake in COMIMA SA, the local company overseeing the project's development.
