Falcon Gold to begin drilling at Great Burnt copper project in Newfoundland

Falcon Gold Corp (TSX-V:FG, OTC:FGLDF) said it plans to start drilling at its wholly-owned Great Burnt Copper Project in Central Newfoundland.

In a statement, the Canadian company said that exploration will target up to 10 geophysical anomalies, with a maximum drilling depth of 1,100 meters.

Falcon holds 2,275 hectares in the Great Burnt camp, neighboring the Benton Resources Inc. - Spruce Ridge Resources (TSX-V:SHL) Ltd. joint venture, which has shown promising copper-gold deposits.

Benton Resources recently reported significant drill results at the Great Burnt Copper Zone, including 7.2% copper over 12.3 meters.

The Great Burnt Greenstone Belt, where Falcon's property is situated, is known for its copper and gold prospects, including the South Pond A and B copper-gold zones and the End Zone copper prospect along a 14 km mineralized corridor.

Falcon CEO, Karim Rayani told investors that the team is “very excited” to start its first phase of drilling at the project.

“Drilling along the Great Burnt copper trend by neighbour Benton Resources has shown significant success,” Rayani said in a statement.

“We believe that Benton's recent success at Great Burnt is a testament to the untapped VMS potential of the Great Burnt area, and we are thrilled to hold an extensive strike extent of this unexplored, never-drilled horizon."

The project is also located near other significant ventures within the Exploits Subzone, known for its high-grade gold-bearing structures, including New Found Gold’s Keats Gold Zone.
