PyroGenesis Canada Inc. (TSX:PYR, OTCQX:PYRGF), the high-tech company focused on advanced plasma processes and sustainable solutions, has received validation for its Ti64 "coarse" powder.
The company announced today that a leading global aerospace Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), whose identity remains undisclosed for confidentiality purposes, has approved PyroGenesis' Ti64 powder for inclusion in its list of approved suppliers.
The Ti64 "coarse" powder, featuring a size fraction ranging from 45µm to 150µm, is primarily utilized in additive manufacturing applications like Electron Beam Melting (EBM) and Direct Energy Deposition (DED).
The qualification process, spanning several years, encompassed thorough evaluations such as quality management system review, work instructions assessment, and on-site audits of PyroGenesis' production facility.
The final step involved submitting powder samples for chemical and mechanical properties evaluation, ensuring alignment with client specifications.
PyroGenesis CEO P. Peter Pascali called it a “colossal” achievement, particularly for the PyroGenesis Additive division.
“While we have been confident from the outset, this notification from a global aerospace OEM is confirmation that our Board’s decision to re-enter the metal powder market, with a ground-up redesign in the form of the patented NexGen plasma atomization production system, was indeed the right one,” Pascali said in a statement.
“This news is even more exciting when taken in the context of the recent announcement of a joint $415-million government/corporate aerospace initiative, to establish an aerospace innovation zone in Montreal, right in our backyard.”
The company said it anticipates official inclusion in the client's approved supplier list soon.
PyroGenesis' "fine cut" Ti64 metal powder is undergoing qualification with the same client, signalling confidence in its eventual approval.
