TikTok is addressing a cybersecurity attack that targeted several brands and celebrities overnight.
Chinese parent company Bytedance told the BBC a "very limited" number of accounts were compromised, including CNN's.
Paris Hilton's account was targeted but not compromised.
TikTok said it is working with users to restore access and enhance security measures.
"We have been collaborating closely with CNN to restore account access and implement enhanced security measures to safeguard their account moving forward," a TikTok spokesperson told the BBC.
TikTok recently hired former Warner Bros general counsel John Rogovin to lead its internal legal department as it prepares for a face-off with US lawmakers who want to ban the massively popular platform over fears that Beijing is using it to access users’ personal data.
The law, supported by US President Joe Biden, aims to force the divestiture by January 19, 2025.
