Giyani Metals appoints Wood plc to lead feasibility study on Botswana manganese project

Giyani Metals Corp (TSX-V:EMM, OTC:CATPF) has appointed Wood plc as the lead consultant for the Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS) on its K.Hill battery-grade manganese project in Botswana.

Wood, an internationally recognized consulting and engineering firm, brings significant expertise in battery-grade metal projects and decarbonization solutions.

Construction is advancing on Giyani's demonstration plant, with high-purity manganese sulfate monohydrate (HPMSM) production expected by Q4 2024 for offtaker testing.

The DFS will incorporate data from the demonstration plant and Giyani's proprietary process, developed through extensive hydrometallurgical research over the past five years.

Giyani's CEO Danny Keating told shareholders that Wood Plc possesses “world-class hydrometallurgical engineering expertise.”

“Whilst completing a high-quality DFS is an important consideration, it is important to Giyani’s Board and Management that Wood also share our mission to reduce carbon emissions within their engineering solutions, and that they have the ability to seamlessly transition from the DFS into commercial plant construction once we have secured project financing,” Keating said in a statement.

The DFS, expected to take 15 months, will run alongside ongoing activities such as demo plant operation, license and permit acquisition, and finalizing offtake agreements and project financing.

The DFS will be executed in two phases: an initial technical review and scope definition phase, followed by a comprehensive analysis phase. This includes a review of all necessary infrastructure and data to optimize the ore processing to produce HPMSM.
