Baselode Energy Corp (TSX-V:FIND, OTCQB:BSENF) has commenced mobilization for a significant 16,000-metre drill program at its ACKIO and Hook uranium sites in northern Saskatchewan’s Athabasca Basin.
Construction is nearly complete and equipment is being moved into place, according to the group.
Ground-based ambient noise tomography (ANT) and gravity surveys have been completed over ACKIO and other regional targets at Hook. The Bear drill program is finished, with results to be released once assays are received.
James Sykes, CEO of Baselode, said: "New targets include multi-layered geophysical and geological features along strike to the southeast and at depth beneath ACKIO.
"Additionally, drill hole data suggests the mineralization fluid system is open in both directions.
"Our regional exploration targets are reinforced with recent ground gravity and ambient noise tomography geophysical surveys over corridors of interest previously identified on the Hook project. We're eager to explore the Hook project."
Up to 12,000 metres of drilling is planned at at ACKIO. The targets include the southeast zone, where geophysical results suggest the alteration and structural systems trend east/southeast-west/northwest.
Additionally, there is an emphasis on unconformity-style mineralization along the Athabasca sandstone structural contact to the southeast and deeper mineralized structures based on geochemical trends. The field crew is already on-site, finishing camp preparations, and drilling is expected to commence within one to two weeks.
For the Hook project, the regional exploration drill program will cover up to 4,000 metres, with 15 to 20 drill holes targeting five to seven different areas. These targets are based on recent results from ground gravity and ANT geophysical surveys. The program is set to start at the end of June.
Once Hook exploration drilling is complete, the drill will join the ACKIO program to finish the remaining work there. Both projects are helicopter-supported to ensure efficient drill targeting and minimize environmental impact. The necessary permits have been obtained for both programs.
Baselode has also completed its inaugural drill program at Bear. This program tested three target areas with ten drill holes, totaling over 2,170 metres. Encouraging clay and redox hydrothermal alteration styles were found in six of the ten drill holes. Full results will be released after assay completion and interpretation.
The company controls 100% of approximately 272,804 hectares in the Athabasca Basin area, free of any option agreements or royalties. The company discovered the near-surface uranium prospect, ACKIO, in September 2021.
ACKIO spans over 375 meters along strike and 150 meters wide, with mineralization starting as shallow as 28 meters beneath the surface. The site contains at least nine separate uranium pods, with significant mineralization occurring in the upper 120 meters. ACKIO remains open at depth and in all directions.
Baselode's exploration strategy focuses on discovering near-surface, high-grade uranium deposits outside the Athabasca Basin. This strategy is supported by the use of advanced geophysical methods to map deep structural controls and identify shallow targets for diamond drilling.
