Zephyr Energy to drill final section at Paradox Basin

Zephyr Energy PLC (AIM:ZPHR, OTCQB:ZPHRF), the oil and gas company, said drilling at the final section of its State 36-2R well will commence soon at its project in the Paradox Basin Utah.

It comes after an 8 ½ inch section reached a planned depth of 10,084 feet, after which a 7-inch casing string was set and cemented.

Drilling in the final section of this well is set to “shortly commence” and is aimed at landing the well safely within the Cane Creek reservoir, allowing it to drill the last 320 feet.

Some 270 feet of this final drill will be done horizontally from within the reservoir, with the overall goal of intersecting the target with the productive natural fracture system it encountered at the original well.

Following this, Zephyr will demobilise the drilling rig and prep the well for production testing.

Colin Harrington, Zephyr's chief executive, said: "I am pleased to report that drilling operations on the State 36-2R well continue safely and with such precision.

“Over the next few days we plan to intersect the Cane Creek and target the same natural fracture network identified by the original well.”
