Airbus facing supply chain shortages, according to Reuters report

European aircraft manufacturer Airbus Group (EPA:AIR) is facing significant parts shortages as the company’s suppliers struggle to keep up with the rising demand for narrowbody jets, according to a report from Reuters.

“Industry sources” warned that Airbus could miss delivery targets on several dozen jets due to bottlenecks in the production process.

In addition to the narrowbody jets, the production of Airbus' widebody jets has also been affected by these shortages, according to sources.

The issues primarily stem from disruptions in the supply chain, which have been exacerbated by the global increase in demand for aircraft components.

Earlier this month, Airbus unveiled an uptick in aircraft deliveries throughout April as its only global rival Boeing Co (NYSE:BA, ETR:BCO) continues to face a fallout over a consistent string of engineering failures afflicting its aircraft.

Boeing, in April, reported 83 deliveries over the quarter to March, against 130 a year earlier, as output stalled on heightened scrutiny of its safety checks.
