Hollywood Bowl getting boost from overseas expansion

Hollywood Bowl Group PLC (LSE:BOWL) should indicate the mood of consumers ahead of the election and if they feel more comfortable about their finances with inflation dropping.

The bowling alley operator has bounced back impressively since the lockdown period, but recent growth has come from its overseas expansion rather than the UK.

In a half-year trading update in April, Hollywood Bowl said revenue was up 8.1% year-on-year to £119 million.

Standout was the 8% growth recorded in Canada, compared with just a 1.3% rise here in Britain.

Broker Liberum left its full-year forecasts unchanged at revenue of £227m, underlying profit of [EBITDA ] £83.7million and pre-tax profits of £49.3 million.

“Importantly the refurbishment and rollout plan is on track and cash generation remains strong,” said the broker.
