Cooper Metals Ltd (ASX:CPM) has received assay results from recent regional reverse circulation (RC) drilling on four copper-gold prospects at its Mt Isa East copper-gold project in Queensland.
With this, Cooper Metals has now received assay results for all 12 drill holes drilled in April at the Mafic Sweats South, Mafic Sweats North, Raven and Yarraman copper-gold prospects.

Importantly, the latest results show that the shallow copper-gold mineralisation at the Mafic Sweats South prospect continues to grow and is now at a total strike length of around 285 metres in length and down to 200 metres deep. This drilling intersected disseminated copper sulphides under an extensive copper oxide zone.
Three follow-up RC drill holes for 519 metres were drilled to test along strike and down dip from the 2023 drilling which had intersected significant downhole thickness of copper oxide mineralisation.
The latest results include:
- 89 metres at 0.30% copper and 0.01 g/t gold from 4 metres, including 4 metres at 1.04% copper and 0.01 g/t gold from 80 metres; and
- 118 metres at 0.17% copper and 0.01 g/t gold from 124 metres, including 8 metres at 0.25% copper and 0.01 g/t gold from 199 metres and 11 metres 0.33% copper and 0.01 g/t gold from 222 metres.
The company is encouraged by the fact that all three drill holes at Mafic Sweats South ended in anomalous copper, indicating a large shallow copper-gold system open along strike and down dip, centred around a regional faulted contact between the Argylla and Magna Lynn Formations.

“RC drilling over the four copper-gold prospects has intersected copper sulphides at all locations with highly encouraging results especially at Mafic Sweats South,” said Cooper Metals managing director Ian Warland.
“Here we have delineated an extensive shallow copper oxide zone underlain by disseminated copper sulphides, which confirms a fertile system over the Janice Fault, located at the contact between differing lithologies.”

At the Yarraman prospect, which is south-west of Mafic Sweats South, a combined downhole length of about 79 metres of low-grade copper-gold mineralisation was intersected in drillhole 24MERC017 over several zones.
Grades up to 1-metre at 1.0% copper and 0.37 g/t gold confirmed a fertile faulted contact zone between two key lithologies requiring further exploration.
Warland added, “At Yarraman, another fertile system is confirmed with around 79 metres of low-grade copper-gold mineralisation intersected on a coincident IP and geochemistry anomaly.
“Further mapping and sampling are underway to help delineate targets for follow-up drilling.”
