Torr Metals increases Kolos project area, targets northern expansion

Torr Metals (TSX-V:TMET) has expanded its Kolos copper-gold project by 75%, increasing the project area from approximately 140 square kilometres to 240 square kilometres.

The expansion targets the northern extension along the Fanta Fault, identified as a significant structural control for copper and gold mineralization, according to the Vancouver-based company.

Torr has also mobilized a field team for the upcoming 2024 field season to conduct reconnaissance at newly identified exploration targets and a new outcrop discovery at the Vik Zone.

"By securing these new claims at low cost, we've strategically expanded our footprint to include highly prospective ground to the east and north, incorporating the historical Ram soil anomaly as well as multiple new exploration targets,” Torr Metals (TSX-V:TMET) CEO Malcolm Dorsey said in a statement.

The Kolos project, located 30 km southeast of Canada’s largest open-pit copper mine and 23 km north-northeast of Merritt, BC, now includes new mineral claims focusing on the northern and eastern parts of the project area. Highlights include the discovery of the Vik Zone, where a 2023 rock grab sample yielded 379 parts per million (ppm) copper and 238 ppm molybdenum, indicating proximity to a potential mineral source intrusion.

Additionally, new exploration targets in the expanded project area feature large-scale low magnetic geophysical anomalies and untested high resistivity ZTEM anomalies, suggesting significant prospectivity.

All new target areas are road-accessible via Highway 5 and untested by drilling, Torr noted.

The upcoming 2024 field season will focus on reconnaissance sampling to further explore the project’s potential.

“While our main focus remains on the more advanced drill-ready Lodi, Kirby, Ace, Rea, and Clapperton Zones, the new discovery of the Vik Zone demonstrates the effectiveness of our exploration model in finding highly anomalous mineralization in unexplored areas,” Dorsey added.

“As such this expansion further enhances our long-term growth potential and places us in a favourable position for potential new grassroots discoveries in the upcoming 2024 field season.”
