The National Samsung Electronics (KRX:005930) Union has announced the first strike in Samsung Electronics' history, set for June 7.
Members will use paid leave to protest, with the possibility of a full-scale strike in the future.
The union represents about 28,000 workers, over a fifth of the company's workforce.
Union representatives cited "persecution against labour unions" and the company's neglect of workers' demands, including a 6.5% pay rise and a bonus linked to earnings.
Negotiations over wages have been ongoing since the start of the year without reaching an agreement.
Samsung Electronics, the world's largest maker of memory chips, smartphones, and televisions, is continuing talks with the union.
Analysts warn that a full-scale strike could disrupt global electronics supply chains. The company's shares fell by about 2% following the announcement.
