US Gold gaining strong local support for Wyoming project, says government affairs lead

US Gold Corp (NASDAQ:USAU) Government Affairs and Community Relations Manager Jason Begger discussed the company's gold mining project in Wyoming with Proactive's Steve Darling in a recent interview.

Begger shared insights on the project's local reception, the permitting process, economic benefits, and the company's commitment to environmental responsibility. This Q&A highlights how U.S. Gold is navigating the complex landscape of mining in a state known for its rich mining history and natural beauty.

Proactive: Let's talk about the importance of your project and the jurisdiction you're in. First off, can you discuss the positive reception you're hearing from Wyoming about your project?

Jason Begger: Wyoming is a mining state with a rich history of mining that goes back a couple of hundred years. People here understand mining and how to do projects the right way. The state also has incredible natural resources, attracting millions of tourists to places like Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. We've struck a balance between resource development and environmental preservation. As U.S. Gold prepares to build out the CK gold mine, the community recognizes that this project is being done the right way, and there's significant support behind it.

The permitting approval process reflects this support, right? How has that process been received?

Yes, the permit approval process is an open dialogue involving not only the company and regulators but also stakeholders. There's ample opportunity for public comment and participation. Through our legwork in the permitting process, we've been able to address and alleviate many concerns and fears, making the process relatively smooth.

Let's talk about Wyoming's efforts to create jobs and generate revenue. How does U.S. Gold's project align with these goals?

Our pre-feasibility work, which will be updated later this year, initially indicated a $70 million to $80 million impact in taxes and royalties to the state of Wyoming. This comes at a crucial time as traditional coal mines face regulatory and political challenges. The state is very receptive to resource projects beyond traditional commodities. A key part of building support for our project is helping the state understand the true economic benefits in terms of jobs, taxes, services, and vendor opportunities.

How does your project fit into the broader US philosophy of maintaining domestic resources and supply chains?

This is a significant aspect of our project. Our congressional delegation, including Senator John Barrasso, is heavily involved in key energy and natural resources committees in Washington, DC. A big part of his portfolio is domestic security, ensuring we can supply critical minerals, copper, and other materials necessary for a resilient modern economy. It's better to control our own destiny rather than rely on politically unstable or unfriendly countries for these resources.

Lastly, U.S. Gold emphasizes environmental responsibility. How does this align with Wyoming's commitment to preserving its natural beauty?

Wyoming supports resource projects but maintains incredibly rigorous standards. Our team at U.S. Gold has extensive experience in building projects worldwide, which brings best practices and alternatives that address regulatory concerns. We've taken an upfront approach to community involvement and communication, even when conversations are tough. This approach has paid dividends. A three-year permitting process may seem long to some, but in mining terms, it's quite fast, showcasing how well the company has conducted itself and the project within Wyoming.

By fostering strong community relations, adhering to stringent environmental standards, and contributing to the local economy, U.S. Gold's project is set to make a significant positive impact in Wyoming.
