Strickland Metals delivers broad and high-grade first gold results from Palomino diamond drilling

Strickland Metals Ltd (ASX:STK) has delivered high grades and significant widths in a diamond drilling program on the Palomino prospect at its 100%-owned Yandal Gold Project in Western Australia.

The results from the first two diamond drill holes at Palomino exceeded the company's expectations in terms of both grade and width and were described as "outstanding":

  • 13.7 metres at 6.3 g/t gold from 133.4 metres including 3 metres at 20 g/t in HWDD001; and
  • 17 metres at 10.6 g/t from 144.7 metres including 3.5 metres at 15 g/t in HWDD002.

Palomino Long Section highlighting the significant high-grade gold mineralisation from HWDD001 and HWDD002 in relation to the poorly tested high-grade plunging primary gold domain.

"Exceeded expectations"

Strickland chairman Anthony McClure said: “We are very pleased to have received our first assays from this year’s Yandal diamond and RC drilling programs.

"Both rigs commenced at the Palomino prospect, where we were following up on last year’s successful aircore program, which included a spectacular intersection of HWAC1380: 39 metres at 6.1g/t gold from 25 metres, including 7 metres at 22.2 g/t gold.

“Despite the successful historical drilling, key structural, geological and mineralogical information was limited until the commencement of this diamond drilling program. The majority of historic drilling was either RAB, aircore or RC, with nearly all of this drilling having occurred during the 1990s.

“Prior to receiving these assays, the company was encouraged by these holes given the abundant visible gold observed in the drill core. The two holes have exceeded expectations in terms of both grade and width.

“There is a strong possibility that historic drilling may have underrepresented the grade due to ground conditions, sample loss, water and other complications. Further assays, which will be received in the coming weeks, should confirm this.

“Assays from an additional eight outstanding RC/diamond holes are yet to be returned from Palomino.

"After completing an initial six diamond holes, an IP survey crew arrived on site and commenced surveying at Palomino.

"The diamond rig moved to the Bronco-Konik prospect area and completed five diamond holes while the IP survey was underway. The diamond rig is now back at Palomino and will commence testing for further high-grade, down-plunge mineralisation.

“Further assays from Palomino are due to be received shortly, alongside the results of the IP survey. The company is expecting reasonably constant drilling and other results over the coming months as assays are returned from the Yandal project and drilling gets underway at the Rogozna project in Serbia.”
