1. Water firms seek to raise bills up to 91% despite rampant sewage dumping

Southern Water is asking the Consumer Council for Water (CCW, which is a sub-department of Defra), to allow a 91% increase in bills over the next five years.

The group announced a £2.4 million reduction in the final dividend to reflect the £2.1 million fine it received for a series of environmental offences across Devon and Cornwall spanning a period of four years.
