A company that aims to build a robotic 'seaport' in space to act as hub for other space vehicles, another that is making miniature autonomous space laboratories, and a startup developing technology to track all the tiny, superfast space junk flying around the planet have been picked for a new accelerator programme.
This trio are among the latest cohort of space technology startups in the UK, US and around the world to be chosen to work with Seraphim Space's accelerator scheme, which is supported by a fund backed by major aerospace players such as Airbus, Inmarsat and Eutelsat.
The 13th accelerator programme aligns with the recent launch of Seraphim Space Ventures II venture fund focusing on seed funding and 'series A' investments, supporting the startups from inception to possible steps towards an IPO, providing mentorship, industry connections, and investment opportunities.
Seraphim Space is known as Generation Space in the US.
The companies will participate in a 12-week program with a focus on propulsion, cybersecurity, space situational awareness, geospatial insights, and in-orbit biotechnology manufacturing.
The participating companies are:
AADYAH Aerospace (India): Developing bespoke satellite and space-based solutions for in-orbit missions.
Arkysis (US): Creating port modules for in-orbit operations around Earth, the Moon, and beyond.
CarbonLaces (UK): Providing granular energy and carbon insights for the Built Environment marketplace.
Four Resolutions (US): Offering sophisticated 3rd party space-data calibration services.
Frontier Space (UK): Developing a modular, miniaturized, autonomous space lab for R&D and manufacturing high-value bioproducts.
SaferPlaces (Italy): Revolutionizing flood risk assessment with a cloud digital twin platform.
Spaceflux (UK): Tackling orbital congestion with proprietary optical sensor networks.
An unnamed US-based company in stealth mode focusing on unique cybersecurity solutions for satellite networks.
Viridian Space (US): Developing novel propulsion technology for sustaining Very Low Earth Orbit (VLEO).
With its London-listed Seraphim Space Investment Trust PLC (LSE:SSIT) Seraphim has been an active spacetech investor globally in the past six year, raising $345 million for 95 startups, with 27 different nations represented by its previous accelerators.
