Terran Orbital praises expectation-beating satellite imagery mission on anniversary

Terran Orbital (NYSE:LLAP) has hailed expectation-surpassing results from the GEOStare SV2 satellite imagery mission on its third anniversary.

Over 60,000 Earth and 94,000 deep space images have been captured from the satellite since its launch from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in May 2021, Terran said on Wednesday.

This is through Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory’s monolithic telescope, mounted on Terran’s space vehicle.

“The data collected by GEOStare SV2 has surpassed our expectations,” Lawrence Livermore space program leader Benjamin Bahney commented.

Terran added the mission demonstrated “the power of collaboration in advancing compact satellites for commercial application”.

Terran and Lawrence Livermore had carried out four years and US$6 million worth of research before the mission, with the satellite since having facilitated software updates to boast the likes of tracking and advanced ground imaging capabilities.

“This ongoing mission has also fostered collaboration within the industry, paving the way for future partnerships,” Terran added.
