Arm Holdings PLC (NASDAQ:ARM) plans to introduce artificial intelligence-focused chips by 2025, according to a report by Nikkei.
The British tech giant, which floated on the Nasdaq in 2023, aims to integrate these chips into smartphones and other devices to enhance performance and efficiency.
Arm is collaborating with major semiconductor firms to develop these AI chips, while the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation is tipped to be the manufacturer, according to reports.
TSMC is the largest and most sophisticated semiconductor manufacturers (or foundry) in the world, printing cutting-edge chips designed by Nvidia, Microsoft, Apple and other technology giants.
Arm and parent company SoftBank will pay for initial development costs, the report said.
The AI chip market is largely cornered by Nvidia Corporation, although AMD’s MI300X chip has also emerged as a contender.
