Phoenix Group falls as CFO who led M&A strategy steps down

Phoenix Group Holdings PLC (LSE:PHNX) shares fell on news that its finance chief is stepping down after 23 years at the company.

Rakesh Thakrar will leave the board later this year, with the precise date still to be agreed.

The long-term savings and retirement group said that Thakrar, who joined when it was a much smaller business in 2021, had been "central to the acquisitions" that had seen it grow over recent years and join the FTSE 100 in 2019.

Phoenix will begin a formal process to find his successor but in the meantime said it has hired former Abrdn CFO Stephanie Bruce in an interim role.

Shares in the company were down 2.4%.
