Asiamet, the Kalimantan-focused copper group, said the recent bounce in the metal’s price allied to a few new mines coming online across the world has sparked significant interest in its BKM project.
Completion of the feasibility study had triggered several workstreams relating to project finance, it added and in the current year, Asiamet said one of its key areas of focus will be to advance project financing options for BKM.
Getting permits, including obtaining approval for the definitive borrow-to-use Forestry Permit PPKH, and updating and submitting regulatory required studies and documents related to the updated BKM feasibility study will also be priorities.
The company also intends to resume community engagement at Beutong ahead of fieldwork in the second half of this year.
Losses for the year ending December 2023 were US$5.1 million (US$7 million) with cash at the year-end of US$4.1 million.
