HIVE Digital Technologies increases bitcoin stash by 4%, mining capacity surges 6%

HIVE Digital Technologies (TSX-V:HIVE, NASDAQ:HIVE) mined 212 bitcoin in April, increasing its holdings to 2,377 bitcoin, reflecting a 4% growth from the previous month.

The Toronto-listed bitcoin mining and data centre company reported a significant increase in its mining capacity, closing April with five exahash per second (EH/s) in mining power, marking a 6% monthly increase.

HIVE achieved an average of 43.6 bitcoin per EH, with a consistent average hashrate of 4.9 EH/s and an 8% increase in monthly average hashrate.

President and chief executive Aydin Kilic said HIVE’s mining fleet “will bring our bitcoin breakeven price point after the recent April 19th bitcoin halving and operating costs to approximately $45,000”.

Executive chairman Frank Holmes stated: "Our HODL [crypto parlance for ‘hold on for dear life’] position is healthy, especially on a per-share basis compared to our peers.

“We ended the month with approximately $150 million in bitcoin, which is approximately $100 million more than last year when bitcoin was $29,290 at April 30, 2023 and $63,839 this year at April 30, 2024 which is more than a 100% surge.

“After mark-to-market treatment this becomes a significant asset on a per share basis relative to our peers, with amongst the lowest G&A costs per bitcoin mined and less than 110 million shares outstanding."
