Frontier IP said portfolio company The Vaccine Group (TVG) is to collaborate with The Pirbright Institute to develop vaccines to counter African swine fever (ASF).
ASF has a devastating impact on pigs, said TVG, and threatens the UK's £620 million pig and pork export market.
No safe and effective vaccine exists for ASF, with the project financially backed by the UK’s Defra and scheduled to take eighteen months.
Frontier IP holds a 17% equity stake in TVG.
Neil Crabb, Frontier IP chief executive said: "We are delighted that TVG is entering this collaboration with The Pirbright Institute, a world leader in innovation for preventing and controlling viral diseases in livestock.
“The partnership represents a strong validation for TVG's herpesvirus-based vaccine platform technology."
