Sidus Space Inc (NASDAQ:SIDU) announced the successful delivery of two electronic LCS cabinets to Bechtel to support NASA’s mobile launcher 2 project, part of the space agency’s Artemis Campaign aimed at lunar exploration and colonization.
The Space and Data-as-a-Service satellite company said it has collaborated with Bechtel to fabricate custom cables and populate unique electronics cabinets supporting the launch control subsystem and ground special power subsystems.
Mobile launcher 2 is the “crucial” ground platform structure used to launch Space Launch System rockets Block 1B and Block 2 configurations, the company said.
It highlighted that these configurations will be used by NASA to achieve its goal of transporting astronauts and heavy cargo to the moon.
Rich Kube, Sidus Space's chief production officer, said the cabinets delivery is a significant milestone in the company’s contribution to NASA’s Artemis Campaign.
“Our ongoing contribution of critical components to the launch of the SLS rockets Block 1B and Block 2 configurations reflects our unwavering commitment to supporting the Artemis Campaign and NASA’s goal to explore and establish a presence on the lunar surface,” Kube said.
Sidus also said it continues to produce additional cabinets for a separate purchase order.
“As we continue production for additional cabinets, Sidus Space reaffirms its dedication to supporting future missions and advancing aerospace technology,” Kube said.
