PyroGenesis announces positive results for green cement additive in recent tests

PyroGenesis Canada Inc. (TSX:PYR, OTCQX:PYRGF) has reported successful outcomes from recent compressive strength tests on its PozPyro green cement additive.

Tests indicated that a 20% PozPyro blend with Portland Cement demonstrated higher compressive strength compared to traditional Portland Cement alone, with increases noted up to 49.67%.

Developed in collaboration with Progressive Planet, PozPyro is designed to serve as a supplementary cementing material (SCM) that could potentially replace fly ash.

Fly ash availability is expected to decline due to the decreasing use of coal-fired power plants.

Notably, the production of PozPyro does not involve CO2 emissions, which stands in contrast to the significant emissions associated with conventional Portland Cement production.

"These findings validate PozPyro's effectiveness as a higher-strength, environmentally-friendly alternative to traditional cement products," said P. Peter Pascali, president and chief executive of PyroGenesis.

“Not only were we able to far surpass the minimum acceptable product standard compared to 75% of the control, but when compared to a full value of the control the PozPyro green cement additive showed a 49.67% gain.

“In other words, these tests suggest that not only can PozPyro potentially outperform other traditional cement additive products in strength, it has the potential to directly outperform pure cement alone.”

Progressive Planet’s chief executive Steve Harpur added: "The strong performance of PozPyro in these tests supports its potential as a viable commercial product, particularly as an alternative to fly ash in regions like the Pacific Northwest."
