Far East Gold Ltd (ASX:FEG, OTC:FEGDF) has identified an additional porphyry target at its Trenggalek Copper-Gold Project in East Java, Indonesia, bringing the total number of porphyry-related systems identified within the 12,813-hectare project area to six.
In collaboration with Eurasian Resources Group (ERG), Far East Gold is evaluating select priority target areas using structural and magnetic data reinterpretations along with recent surface mapping and rock sampling.
An additional porphyry-related mineral system within the Ngerdani target area has been inferred by coincident geophysical, structural and geochemical anomalies.
Magnetic inversion modelling
ERG undertook 3D magnetic inversion modelling of historical magnetic survey data that indicates the presence of a deep magnetic body underlying an area of extensive advanced argillic alteration at Ngerdani.
The coincidence of high-temperature clays, mineralised hydrothermal breccia and anomalous molybdenum-in-soil are interpreted to reflect a porphyry-related mineral system possibly associated with the magnetic bodies.
Recent field mapping by Far East Gold at Ngerdani is consistent with historical exploration reports of advanced argillic-type alteration.
Previous exploration at Ngerdani reported trench channel sample assays of:
- 10 metres at 26.38 g/t gold, including 2 metres at 131 g/t;
- 10 metres at 8.02 g/t, including 2 metres at 39.5 g/t; and
- 64 metres at 0.4 g/t, including 2 metres at 2.03 g/t.
With the six prospect areas at Trenggalek, the company has nine defined porphyry-related targets to test as part of the planned Phase 1 drill program.
