Equity Metals Corporation (TSX-V:EQTY, OTCQB:EQMEF) has kicked off its 2024 exploration season on the Silver Queen silver-gold project, situated in central British Columbia.
With crews now mobilized, the company plans to conduct up to 6,500 meters of drilling in the first phase of the program.
The primary focus will be on the George Lake vein system, where previously identified that veins remain open for expansion.
The upcoming drill program aims to explore along a potential 600-meter strike-length and up to 400 meters in depth, according to Equity.
In addition to the George Lake target, Equity has identified several new areas for further development, including a polymetallic soil anomaly situated north of the Camp Deposit. Drilling activities are scheduled to commence in early May and will extend through late June or early July.
During the Summer 2023 drill program, Equity completed seven holes totaling 2,324 meters on the George Lake target. The results confirmed historical mineralization grades and extended mineralization by 400 meters to the southeast and up to 250 meters below surface, adjacent to the Bulkley Cross-cut, which represents historic underground workings.
Rob Macdonald, vice president exploration, commented on the progress, stating, "Exploration in 2023 confirmed the George Lake target as an attractive mineralized zone that was not sufficiently delineated previously to be included in resource calculations.
“Our 2024 drill program will capitalize on this and earlier work, to continue the extension of the vein set to the southeast and to depth with our goal of continuing to expand the Silver Queen resource base."
The George Lake mineralization represents one of 20 historic veins identified on the property, Macdonald noted.
The exploration chief also highlighted the significance of the existing historic underground access, which, although currently flooded, could provide cost-effective access to the expanding vein system if dewatered.
