Standard Uranium Ltd (TSX-V:STND, OTCQB:STTDF) has announced the upcoming commencement of a drilling program at the Canary project, located in the prolific Eastern Athabasca Basin.
In partnership with Mamba Exploration Limited, Standard Uranium will mobilize crews to start drilling in early May, targeting shallow high-grade uranium deposits.
The drill program will cover an estimated 1,000-1,500 metres over up to four holes, specifically aiming at uranium mineralization below 200-350 metres depth.
These efforts follow extensive preparatory geophysical work performed in 2022, pinpointing key unconformity-related uranium targets.
Mamba Exploration has committed to fully fund the inaugural drill program as part of its agreement to secure a 75% interest in the 7,302-hectare project.
Standard Uranium’s president Sean Hillacre stated: “Our technical team and partners at Mamba are thrilled to begin drilling the exciting targets identified on the first of three EM corridors on the project for the first time, exploring for shallow high-grade unconformity-related uranium mineralization.
“Our exploration thesis on the project is directly analogous to the targeting strategies that lead to recent discoveries in the Mudjatik Domain such as the high-grade Hurricane deposit just to the south of Canary.”
