Trainline’s smooth upward progression has been derailed somewhat by Labour announcing it will nationalise the railways if elected.
Next week’s trading update from the online ticketing group should give an idea of how it sees that affecting its business, though as the UK’s rail network is effectively nationalised already it might play it down.
UBS earlier this month noted “A change of government will pose some risks, especially potential changes to commission structures and third-party retailers.
“On the flipside, a Labour government could see labour relations improve and allow scope for fare reform to drive volume growth.”
The Swiss bank added it still sees plenty of opportunities as European markets open up, but this might take a few years to materialise.
