PyroGenesis Canada Inc. (TSX:PYR, OTCQX:PYRGF) announced the receipt of two substantial project milestone payments totaling $970,000.
The first milestone payment, amounting to approximately $550,000 (US$406,000), was secured for the sale of a plasma torch system to a US corporation dedicated to combatting perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). PFAS, commonly found in consumer products across industries like aerospace, automotive, and construction, pose significant environmental and health risks.
PyroGenesis' plasma torch system offers a promising solution for the destruction of PFAS, contributing to environmental sustainability and public health protection.
The client's identity remains undisclosed for competitive and confidentiality reasons, PyroGenesis said in a statement.
As well, PyroGenesis confirmed the ongoing progress and receipt of a project milestone payment totaling approximately $420,000 (US$313,000). The payment is linked to a project initiated in August 2023 with a US aeronautics and defense entity. The project involves the development of a high-powered 4.5MW plasma torch system, catering to the unique needs of the aeronautics and defense industries.
PyroGenesis' plasma torch technology plays a crucial role in addressing environmental challenges and facilitating economic sustainability across global heavy industries.
The development of plasma torch systems for hazardous waste destruction, such as PFAS, falls under PyroGenesis' Waste Remediation tier, which focuses on safe disposal methods for hazardous materials while recovering valuable substances like chemicals and minerals.
Additionally, plasma torches utilized for high and ultra-high temperature applications contribute to the company's Energy Transition & Emissions Reduction tier, supporting heavy industry in reducing fossil fuel dependency and greenhouse gas emissions.
