Zephyr Energy PLC (AIM:ZPHR, OTCQB:ZPHRF) has begun the main drilling operation at the State 36-2 LNW-CC-R well, part of the Paradox Basin project in Utah.
The well targets the Cane Creek reservoir, and its expected to reach a total depth of 10,362 feet.
It will include a 270-foot horizontal section that can be extended in the future if required, the company noted.
Drilling is expected to run for about 30 days, after which the well will be prepared for production testing.
"After months of meticulous planning we are delighted to have commenced full drilling operations with the prime objectives of delivering a safe and timely drilling operation followed by a successful well test,” chief executive Colin Harrington said in a statement.
“We look forward to providing regular updates as drilling progresses."
